Who is The Vox?

Updated on February 3, 2013

This is one of those 'About Me' lenses, right?

Yep.

Thanks to a dare from the Squidoo HQ (okay, so it's more like I voluntarily chose to join the RocketSquids) I was sent on a mission to complete an 'About Me' lens for myself.

It makes sense though. Any aspiring writer should have a little introduction, blerb, autobiographical whatever you want to-call it on the internet somewhere for anyone interested in learning more about said person.

What's with the name?

Well, when I started blogging a year ago, I didn't want to go by my real name.

What's wrong with being anonymous? Famous writers have been doing that for hundreds of years. I wanted to be anonymous because I didn't see myself as being a bloggerm so why would I want my resume or web search say I was? It was just for fun.

"Vox" means voice in Latin, if that's what you were wondering. Uh huh, I bet it was.

Or am I just a penguin?
Or am I just a penguin?

What do I do for a living?

I make and sell paper cranes and frogs.

No, not really. Though that would be fun. Especially if I used the really cool patterned paper.

I am a filmmaker, specifically a music video director, and a freelance writer. But lately I stick to being a part time blogger for my blog, Mito Vox. As I said before, I started blogging a year ago without thinking this would become a job. Now I can put it on my resume. Not so anonymous anymore I guess. I write articles for websites and have done a few ghostwriting gigs here and there. No that has nothing to do with writing horror stories.

I just got my B.F.A. in film & television and I'm ready to start with my new career. Yay enthusiasm! I would love to travel so I am making plans to move anywhere I can to learn more about cultures and filmmaking. Next top: South Korea! Or Greece. Or Canada. Or just to New York City. I am only in my early 20s, so I've got a lot of ground to cover.

What do I blog about?

Anything I find interesting.

I wanted to share all my music loves/hates.

Fashion that I thought was or wasn't crazy.

Movie and television reviews for anything I thought was worth watching and reviewing.

I love finding recipes and trying them out, so of course I have to blog about food.

And whenever I feel the need to rant, I do.

Best self-starter job ever. Except, the fact that I barely make a cent.

Doing anything with that fancy B.F.A.?

At the moment... not really.

While I love what I do, I also feel like I need broaden my horizons a bit. I want to experience different aspects of filmmaking that I haven't learned yet. This goes with wanting to travel.

Currently I'm learning Korean so that I can either teach ESL or work with film/ television production companies in South Korea. But Korean Pop music videos are the main reason for my fascination for moving there. Have you seen any of them? They are epic! I can't wait!

Seriously, I'm getting super antsy. If you have any advice for me pertaining to that, feel free to share.

Random facts about me that you may or may not care about

What's my favorite color?

Blue.

Like the awesome hair of the Troll in this picture. Or like the color of the box above.

But I feel like I'm more of a red. Cough cough...my blog post about it: http://mitovox.blogspot.com/2012/01/if-i-couldbe-c...

If I were stuck on a desert island...

Or if I ended up living out the show Lost...

Someone make me a margarita, stat!

I would always have

1. A pencil or pen

2. A notebook

3. A blanket

4. Some matches

5. my inhaler

I would:

1. Write the scripts or stories I have been too lazy to write

2. Never be cold.

3. Shack up with the doctor (he was the smart one on Lost).

4. Always have something to light a fire with b/c all that boy scout stuff won't work with me. It looks so easy in movies.

5. I need my inhaler, that's just a necessity.

If they don't find me within a month, then there must be a hotel somewhere around there. Someone's got to be lying about the whole "no one can find us" b.s.

Where do I see myself in 10 years?

Hmmm. Good question.

A lot richer.

Working and loving what I do, even if that means I will be something random.

Like being a cupcake connoisseur.

Famous for something that isn't scandalous.

Happy. Maybe possibly to the man of my dreams and raising a couple of kids.

Okay now. Be honest.

Who am I really?

I'm The Vox.

I thought that was already decided.

Ask me again and I will tell you the same.

If you were wondering, I am a woman. No, the woman in the above pictures are not of me. I like to use vintage photos from Flickr's Creative Commons as my profile images.

And, yes, penguins are cute.

Amazon Spotlight Personal Review - This book is fantastic!

Out of all the books I was required to read in college, this one was my favorite. I have yet to finish it. But only because I want to read it while I'm writing/editing my feature length screen play.

Your Screenplay Sucks!: 100 Ways to Make It Great
Your Screenplay Sucks!: 100 Ways to Make It Great
This book uses humor and honesty to assist the readers in making a buzz worthy screenplay...without sacrificing your creativity and your love for your story. I highly recommend it!
